TECH PREP

Tech Prep is an educational reform that is changing the way high school and college students learn across the United States.  In Illinois Tech Prep consists of a sequence of academic and technical courses taught at a minimum during the two years of secondary school preceding graduation and (1) during two years of postsecondary education leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree or (2) an apprenticeship of at least two years following high school.  The sequence must include integrated academic and technical content, workplace skills, and instruction delivered both at the work-site and in the school/college setting.  Our Tech Prep program is designed to prepare a student for a technical job after high school and a two-year technical program.

Fulton High School works with Whiteside Area Career Center and Sauk Valley Community College to provide a Tech Prep program for our students.  We have outlined courses that should be taken during a student’s last two years of high school and two years at Sauk Valley College which, if successfully completed, will prepare the student for a job in the following careers.  If anyone is interested in any of the following careers, see Mr. Luker for a course sequence from grade 11-college.
