River Bend Middle School Chorus

2007-2008

The River Bend Middle School Chorus is open to any student.  The director will do individual “voice placement” for each student enrolling in Chorus.  Voice placement helps the director know what part the student should be singing and helps the director to identify those students who are interested in participating in music festivals and other activities during the year.  This “voice placement” will happen within the first two weeks of school during chorus.

TIME

The RBMS Chorus will meet every other day from 2:15pm – 3:00pm.

VOICE LESSONS    

Voice lessons will be provided between 11:50 -12:25 every B day.  Any student can sign up for extra help to improve.  These lessons are during recess so the students will not be taken out of regular classes.

RULES

Students are expected to be at every scheduled rehearsal.  If a student needs re-teach time for make-up work or are doing poorly in a class they may come with a pass from their teacher excusing them from chorus that day.  I will not allow this to be an everyday occurrence but I am sympathetic to those students who need help with their school work.  There will also be time at the end of chorus that a student may use to work on homework.    

This class is a performance based class.  Students are expected to participate in ALL performances.  Only family emergencies or sickness will be an excused absence.  Deduction of points will result for an unexcused absence from a rehearsal or performance. 

Once a student joins chorus they must stay in chorus for a full semester.  If a student drops chorus during a semester they need a written note from a parent and the student will receive an “F” for a grade.
