  Scholarship Applications  

Dual Credit Students:

Fulton Kiwanis Dual Credit Grant - The Fulton Kiwanis is working with the River Bend School District to offset the cost of dual credit classes. This grant can be used for any Dual Credit Course (Sauk Valley CC, Clinton CC, Morrison Institute of Technology, and any Online College Course). For more information and an application please select the following link; Kiwanis Grant. Return completed forms to the HS Principal or HS Counselor.

SVCC In Session Scholarships become available on the 1st of each month. These additional funds are expected to assist all SVCC students including Academy and Dual Enrolled students. Reminder, that the Sauk Valley College Foundation offers scholarships for students of all grade point  and financial levels. RIVER BEND SCHOLARSHIPS--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2021 River Bend Education Association - This scholarship is open to any senior who will graduate at the end of the current school year, any former Fulton High School graduate, RBEA member, and/or RBEA members’ children. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by April 17. 

2019 Brooke Bruggenwirth Memorial Scholarship -Awarded to a Fulton High School graduating Senior who participated in the Steamer basketball program their senior year. Awarded to one boy and one girl. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by April 15. Due to the school closing, please use 2019 application and email completed applications to Jennifer Griser in the main office.

2020 Ralph F. Schepler Scholarship - Applicants must demonstrate a need of financial assistance. Applications must be returned to River Bend CUSD #2 district office 1110 3rd Street, Fulton IL 61252 by April 9.

2020 Kiwanis Club Scholarship - Available to Seniors who are Key Club members.  Applications are Due April 9.

2020 Albany Lion’s Club Scholarship - Available to graduating students who reside in the Albany Fire District and are planning on attending either college or a recognized vocational school.  Applications are due on or before May 11.

2019 Extra Curricular Support for Youth Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior of River Bend School District.  Students must have maintained a 3.0 or better GPA. Recipients must have been involved in at least 1 extra-curricular activity during high school.  All applications must be completed and returned to the River Bend CUSD #2 district office 1110 3rd Street, Fulton IL 61252 Deadline is March 1, 2019.

2020 Deb Norman Scholarship - Awarded to a Fulton High School graduating Senior who participated in the girls’ varsity basketball program. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 20.

2020 Flikkema Foundation Scholarship Applicants must have graduated from Fulton High School within the last 10 years. Those pursuing a career/degree in mathematics or science will be given strong consideration. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 20.

2020 River Bend Education Foundation Scholarship Be a graduating senior of River Bend School District. Scholarship recipients usually will have maintained a 3.000 cumulative grade point average throughout high school, but this will not always be required if the candidate shows strength in the other criteria for selection. Scholarship recipients shall have had some participation in extra-curricular activities. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 20.

2020 River Bend Education Foundation Nursing Scholarship - Be a graduating senior of River Bend School District. Scholarship recipients usually will have maintained a 3.000 cumulative grade point average throughout high school, but this will not always be required if the candidate shows strength in the other criteria for selection. Scholarship recipients shall have had some participation in extra-curricular activities. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 20.

2020 River Bend Education Foundation Vocational Scholarship - Available to graduating seniors of River Bend School District.  Applicants must plan to attend any accredited trade school or junior college and entering a vocational field.  Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office no later than March 20. 

2020 Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship - Applicants must be a Fulton High School Graduating senior. Awarded to students planning to major in education and have maintained a 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher high school GPA. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 20.

2020 Knights of Columbus Scholarship  is available to students of the Catholic faith. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by March 31.

2021 River Bend Education Association This scholarship is open to any senior who will graduate at the end of the current school year, any former Fulton High School graduate, RBEA member, and/or RBEA members’ children. Applications must be returned to the Fulton High School Student Services office by April 17.

AREA/REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2021 Celebrating High School Innovators - Do you have great ideas and want to make them a reality? Are your projects making a positive difference in your community?Tell us about your idea and you might be chosen as one of the most innovative high school students in Illinois! Our top five winners will receive $1,000 in cash and scholarships to Illinois State University.  Application Deadline October 23.

2021 Greenhouse Scholars of Illinois provides comprehensive personal and financial support, including one-on-one mentorship, professional guidance, peer mentorship, leadership training, and a renewable need-based college scholarship of up to $5,000 per year. We are not a typical scholarship program – become a Greenhouse Scholar and get the support you need to become the community leader you are destined to be. Application is due no later than November 1.

2021 Youth Awards - The Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, and Technology & Engineering. – December 6.

2021 Golden Apple Scholarship - Do you dream of teaching and giving back? Golden Apple is the answer. Apply to become a Golden Apple Scholar and fulfill your passion for teaching as you become an educator and a force for change in the lives of students across Illinois.  Priority application is December 15, Regular application is April 1.

2021 IEC Memorial Scholarships - Illinois electric cooperatives will award a total of 11 scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded in 2019 through the Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program. Six scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are the sons or daughters of an Illinois electric cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative. A seventh scholarship, the Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship, will be awarded to a student who is the son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative employee or director. Four additional scholarships are reserved for students enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the sons or daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members, employees or directors. Deadline for the IEC Memorial Scholarships is December 31.

2020 Sauk Valley Community College Foundation students are encouraged to apply for scholarships.  The Sauk Valley College Foundation Board voted to increase student scholarship spending up to $107,000. These additional funds are expected to assist all SVCC students including Academy and Dual Enrolled students. Reminder, that the Sauk Valley College Foundation offers scholarships for students of all grade point  and financial levels. In Session Scholarships become available on the 1st of each month.  Fall Scholarships are available and close on April 1.

2020 Whiteside Retired Teachers Association will be offering one, possibly two scholarships, with sums up to $500 to students in Whiteside County, who will be 1) enrolled in Sauk Valley Community College or Black Hawk College for the fall of 2020 and 2) must plan to be a teacher.  Applications are due on or before April 15.

2020 Rock River Human Resource Professional Association is pleased to offer one annual scholarship for a student pursuing a degree in Business with a major/minor in Human Resources.  Applicants must meet the following criteria: College Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in the fall of 2020; Reside in Whiteside, Lee, or Ogle counties or surrounding communities; Participate in extracurricular activities.  Applications are due on or before April 15.

2020 LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker's Scholarship - will help pay for costs to attend the lineworker's school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield. Sons and daughters of co-op members, relatives of co-op employees or directors and individuals who served or are serving in the armed forces or National Guard are all eligible for the lineworker's scholarship. Deadline to apply is April 30,

2020 Sauk Scholars Award - Student who rank in the top 10% of their class or have earned a SAT of 1340 or better are eligible for this scholarship. Year 1 is free tuition for up to 24 credits. Year 2 is an additional 24 credits, free tuition if a 3.0 GPA was maintained in the first year. – May 1, 2020.

2020 Lyons Masonic Lodge #93 Scholarship - Available to graduating seniors and past graduates who have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Applicants must be accepted as a full time student at a college, university, or vocational school program for the upcoming academic semester. Applications are due on or before May 1.

2020 Mount St. Clare Charitable Education Trust - These scholarships are awarded to graduates from Clinton County, Iowa or Whiteside County, Illinois. Recipients must attend or plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college in the State of Iowa. Applications are due on or before May 1.

2020 Jo-Carroll Electric Director's Scholarship - Ten Director's Scholarships in the amount of $500 to be awarded by drawings at the cooperative's Annual Meeting of Members on June 10 at the River Ridge Community School, Hanover. Applicants must be high school seniors who parents/legal guardians are members of the cooperative. The applicant and at least one parent/guardian must be in attendance at the annual meeting. Deadline: May 1.

2020 Insuring Rural Communities (IRC) – The Sustainable Scholarship Initiative was created to support students from rural areas of Missouri and Illinois. Students of all ages who have graduated high school or have a GED are eligible to apply for annual, renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 to pursue information technology, healthcare, or risk management degrees or certificates. Applications close May 15.

2019 CGH Medical Center Auxiliary Health Care The CGH Medical Center Auxiliary awards annual $1,000 scholarships to students, who are enrolled in health-related education programs, reside in the area served by CGH Medical Center and meet the criteria established by the Auxiliary. Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant’s character, academic achievements, activities, financial need and community service. Academic achievement requires a minimum of 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale overall or equivalent. Scholarship amounts are paid directly to the educational institution. The Scholarship Committee’s definition of “health-related” does not include:

• Prerequisites or core curriculum necessary prior to acceptance into the specific health-related program.
• Degree specialties including pre-med, pre-pharmacy, physical therapy, audiology, speech therapy (and others) unless you have actually been admitted into the program which usually happens in these majors at the junior, senior or post graduate level of college.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: Must be postmarked by April 1, 2019.

2019 MacLean-Fogg Metform Scholarship - Available to senior students who have been accepted by an accredited 4-year college or university.  They must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a business-related field.  Children or dependents of MacLean-Fogg Company or Metform are not eligible for this scholarship.  Application forms are due no later than April 12, 2019.  Given the current economic climate, they will not be offering scholarships this year.

2019 Whiteside Pheasants Forver Scholarship - Available to one graduating senior from Whiteside County or Annawan High School who is planning to major in wildlife conservation, agronomy, law enforcement or wildlife biology. Applications are due on or before April 15, 2019 to: Dwain Polson, 26101 Seyller Rd, Prophetstown, IL 61277-8711.

2019 Illinois Hospital Research & Educational Foundation Scholarship.  Applicants must be Illinois residents. They must be either enrolled in or accepted into a hospital-related healthcare degree or certificate program, excluding any programs having a general education curriculum (such as pre-medicine programs). Applicants must have at least one year remaining in their program of study. They should have a GPA of 3.5 on a four-point scale in order to be competitive for this award. Selection is based on academic merit and financial need.  Applications are due on or before April 15, 2019

2019 Illinois Hospital Research & Educational Foundation Scholarship.  Applicants must be Illinois residents. They must be either enrolled in or accepted into a hospital-related healthcare degree or certificate program, excluding any programs having a general education curriculum (such as pre-medicine programs). Applicants must have at least one year remaining in their program of study. They should have a GPA of 3.5 on a four-point scale in order to be competitive for this award. Selection is based on academic merit and financial need.  Applications are due on or before April 15, 2019

2019 S.O.A.R. Scholarship Program.  We are looking for seniors that best exemplify the S.O.A.R. characteristics. S-Strength of character, O-Optimism–predictions for future success and where will you be making a difference; A–Achievement in academics and volunteerism; R–Resolve shown when faced with an adversarial situation 3 high school seniors will be selected to receive a $5000 scholarship to be used towards further education and training.  Applicants must fill out the application attached. The application can also be filled out online in the Contest section of WQAD.COM. Deadline is 11:59 p.m. CT on April 15, 2019. Mailed entries must be postmarked by April 15, 2019 and received by no later than 5 p.m. CT on April 18, 2019.

2019 Double I Antique Car Club Scholarship is open to any graduating senior pursuing a career in an automotive repair related field.  Applications are due on or before May 1, 2019.

2019 Cleveland-Dodge Memorial scholarship is available to learning disabled high school seniors who are enrolling in a two or four year college or university or trade school.  Applications are due on or before May 1, 2019.

2019 George McKibben Memorial scholarship has been established by the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts (AISWCD) to assist outstanding agriculture students in the completion of their education at any Illinois state college (University of Illinois, Eastern, Western, Southern and Illinois State). The student awarded the scholarship should demonstrate superior agriculture academic achievement, commitment to soil and water conservation and potential for innovation and/or leadership ability. Applications are due on or before May 15, 2019.

2019 Wyffels Hybrids Scholarship & Work Program will grant two scholarship, each in the amount of $500 per semester, to two high school seniors or college students pursuing a two-year degree at Black Hawk College East in either Agribusiness Management or Agriculture Production.  Applications are due on or before June 14, 2019.

2020 VFW Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay Contest - Why My Vote Matters This contest is open to all students, including homeschooled students, in grades 9-12. Student must be a resident of the state where entered. Deadlines: Entries to local VFW Post – October 31, 2019.

2020 Quad City Regional Auto Show.  The QC Community Foundations has money for students who going to college and work or have a parent or guardian who works at a new car dealership, Also, if you want to be trained as an automotive technician, you too, qualify for this scholarship. There are 2 categories for this scholarship 1)Trade School Students and 2) 4-Year College BoundApplications due January 2, 2020

2020 Verna Ross Orndorff Essay Contest. Are you the next winner of the Illinois State Historical Society's Essay Scholarship? The ISHS is offering this prestigious award of $1,000 for the best 1,500-word essay written by an Illinois high school student on the subject of Abraham Lincoln or the Civil War era in Illinois. Essays must be submitted by January 15, 2020.

2020 Illinois Society of Professional Engineers - The Rock River Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (RRC-ISPE) is proud to announce that it is now accepting applications for the annual scholarship(s) given by the organization to the most qualified student(s) entering the field of engineering. This scholarship is for high school seniors who will be enrolling in an engineering program in the fall of 2019.  Applications are due January 17, 2020. 

2020 Quad Cities Engineering and Science Council program provides multiple one-time grants/scholarships between $1000 and $2500 each for high school seniors pursuing a STEM degree at a 4 year university. These are awarded on an objective basis without regard to race, sex, or religion. Criteria include academics, civic/community service, extracurricular involvement, career goals, and an essay on why you want a STEM degree  Application deadline is January 27, 2020.

2020 Distinguished Young Women of Illinois- Females in their junior year who are involved in school and/or community activities, are outstanding in academics. leadership, athletics or the arts are eligible for this program and scholarships. Click on the entry title for a flyer describing the program or go directly to their website,   www.DistinguishedYW.org.  Applications are due February 1. 

2020 CBAI Foundation Scholarship - In this contest judges will be looking for an understanding of what a community bank is and its role in the local economy.  Competition is open to Illinois high-school seniors who are sponsored by a CBAI member bank; it is not based on financial need.  Check with the local sponsoring bank for deadlines.  It will be sometime in January.

2020 NW Illinois Economic Development offers a $1,000 scholarship to graduating high school seniors from Jo Daviess, Carroll or Whiteside Counties who are interested in becoming an entrepreneur and starting a business. Recipients shall be full-time students in good academic standing in the qualifying school year (2019 - 2020). Completed scholarship applications are due by February 3, 2020. The scholarship can be used for: Community College, Technical College, 4-year College or University, or Start-up costs for business planning.

2020 Illinois School Counselor Association Student Scholarship  - The ISCA will be awarding 7 ($1000) scholarships, one for each ISCA region, to a graduating senior. The scholarship can be used to support students who plan to attend a 4-year college/university, 2-year college, trade school or apprenticeship program. All applications must be submitted by February 7, 2020.

2020 Bi-County Special Education Scholarship is available for students who have a disability and wish to seek further education via trade school, college or certificate program. Students may re-apply will in trade school or college.  Applications are due February 15.

2020 Bi-County General Education Scholarship is available to General Education Students pursing a career in Special Education or a related field (i.e. Special Education, Psychology, Music Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Sociology, Recreational Therapy). Applications are due February 15.

2020 VFW Continuing Education Scholarship - Open to any Auxiliary member (who has been a member for at least a year), or their spouse, son or daughter with a financial need. Entrant must be at least 18 years old, The application must be received at National Headquarters by February 15, 2020.

2020 Quad Cities Community Foundation ScholarshipsThe Quad Cities Community Foundation administers multiple scholarship funds, all started by donors who want to ensure students are able to continue their education at community colleges and four-year institutions. Over 35 scholarship applications are available through our website. When we include scholarships that are able to be renewed each year students are in school, these applications result in nearly $600,000 in scholarships being distributed by the Community Foundation every year to help students meet their higher education goals.  Applications due February 15, 2020.

2020 Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs are offering 5 separate scholarships for $1000 each. Students must plan on attending an Illinois 4-year University/College, Community College or Vocational/Technical School in the fall of 2020. These scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors, current college students, and/or adults returning to college. Applications are due February 15, 2020. 2020 Lupita Turriff Hispanic Student Scholarship - The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI) is offering a $2000 scholarships to all future Chemists, Chemical Engineers, Environmental Engineers and/or HS Chemistry Teachers.  The application is due no later than February 21.

2020 Illinois Chemical Education Foundation Scholarship - Open to all future Chemists, Chemical Engineers, Environmental Engineers and/or HS Chemistry Teachers.  This $2000 scholarship application is due no later than February 21.

2020 Sharar Foundation Red and Gold Scholarship is awarded to a Fulton High School senior planning on attending Clinton Community College. The student must be graduating in upper half of their class, participating in one or more student activities in high school, with a recommendation by their counselor. Students interested in being nominated for this scholarship need to let their high school counselor know by February 27.

2020 Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation is offering three scholarships to Whiteside County high school seniors and up to two current college students pursuing an agriculture-related degree. The scholarships are valued at $2,500 each. The Foundation is also offering one $1,000 scholarship to a student pursuing an agriculture-related degree at a two-year college or technical school. When it comes to agriculture, it’s time to think beyond crops. Think business.  Think communication. Think mechanics. Think fashion. You may be eligible for a Foundation scholarship. The application deadline is February 28.

2020 Cornerstone Credit Union's Founders Scholarship Committee will be awarding 6 - $1,500 Founders Scholarships to deserving high school seniors. This one-time scholarship is awarded to recipients who have exemplified leadership and dedication throughout their high school scholastic career and plan to attend an accredited college, university, community college or technical/trade school. Applicant &/or a parent must join the credit union as part of the application process by the application deadline, which is February 29.

2020 Sharar Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who are planning on attending Clinton Community College. The foundation awards more than 150 scholarships each year. All current and prospective full and part-time (six hours or more) students are considered. Some are based on financial need and or/ academic excellence, and others are based on the degree you are pursuing or the location in which you live. If a student wishes to register for fewer than six hours, and can demonstrate financial need, some scholarship assistance may be available. Scholarship amounts range from $200 to the Honor Scholarships. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required to be eligible for scholarships. Those individuals with lower GPA’s may wish to explain their special circumstances in the letter addressing the scholarship awarding committee. 2020 EICC Connections Scholarships are available to students who have earned at least 6 college credits from Clinton Community College and are planning on attending one of the 3 Eastern Iowa Community Colleges after High School.  Applications must be submitted by March 1.

2020 Illinois Federation of Business Women’s Scholarship is offering a  scholarship for graduating high school senior females.  Successful applicants must compete in the Young Professional public speaking competition in April.  Applications must be submitted by March 1.

2020 Sauk Valley Area Manufacturing Scholarship is open to students who are current seniors or college students in an area high school who plan to attend Sauk Valley Community College or Morrison Institute of Technology in the Fall.  Applications are due on or before March 1.

2020 Sauk Valley Area Agriculture Scholarship is available to residents or students in the Sauk Valley Area.  Awards are based on agricultural background, educational and career goals, extracurricular activities and civic involvement as well as the overall quality of the application.  Applications must be received on or before March 1.

2020 Township Officials of Illinois Fund is awarding funds to graduating high school seniors to continue their education at Illinois Colleges and Universities.  Please mail your completed application, postmarked no later than March 1.

2020 Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Program Students from throughout the State of Illinois who wish to attend any post-secondary school or an accredited vocational/technical training school and who have maintained at least a “C” grade average may apply for this scholarship.  Applications are due no later than March 1.

2020 Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarships offer 6 scholarships to graduating seniors who have or had parents or grand parents who served in the military. Scholarships available starting in November with a due date of March 1.

2020 National Defense Transportation Association - The purpose of the NDTA Scott/St. Louis Chapter scholarship program is to promote careers in Business, Transportation Logistics, and Physical Distribution.  Although all students may apply, preference will be given to students pursuing these and related courses of study.  Application deadline is March 1.

2020 Jo-Carroll Electric Lineworker Scholarship - Up to two Lineworker Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. These scholarships are awarded to students who plan to attend a lineworker school. Applicants or their parent/legal guardian must be a cooperative member. Scholarships are awarded based on academic transcripts, school and community activities and a statement outlining career goals and why the student is interested in becoming an electric lineworker. Deadline: March 2.

2020 Jo-Carroll Electric Scholarship - Up to six $1000 Jo-Carroll Energy Scholarships are awarded each year to outstanding scholastic students who are the sons or daughters of Jo-Carroll Energy members. Two scholarships will be awarded in both Carroll and Jo Daviess counties, and one scholarship will be awarded in both Whiteside and Henry counties. Scholarships are awarded based on grade point average, college entrance test scores, work and volunteer experience, participation in school and community activities, biographical statement and knowledge of the cooperative. Deadline: March 2.

2020 Jo-Carroll Electric Two-Year Technical Scholarship - Up to four $1,000 Two-year/Technical School Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Similar to the JCE Scholarships, these awards go to outstanding scholastic students who are high school seniors and sons or daughters of Jo-Carroll Energy members but who plan to attend a two-year college or technical program. One scholarships is awarded in each of the counties the cooperative serves including Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside and Henry. Scholarships are awarded based on grade point average, college entrance exam scores, work and volunteer experience, participation in school and community activities, and two short essay statements. Deadline: March 2.

2020 Whiteside County Republican Scholarship - One $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a Whiteside County high school graduate while the other $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a Whiteside County resident college/trade school student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year institution within the United States. The attached scholarship guideline and application gives the requirements for eligibility and instructions for applying. All applications must be postmarked by March 2, 2020.

2020 Illinois Elks Children’s Care Program is offering 2 college scholarships to high school seniors. The first is for students who are pursuing a degree in Physical & Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and the second is for Physical & Occupational Therapy Majors. Submit completed applications to Dixon Elks Lodge #779,1279 Franklin Grove Rd., Dixon, IL 61021 no later than March 6.

2020 Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship - Available to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a higher education in an office profession, secretarial or business-related field within the State of Illinois with preference given to attendance at the University of Illinois.  Applications are due no later than March 9.

2020 Rock River Chapter DAR is awarding this scholarship based on individual academic achievement, career aspirations and other characteristics.  Completed forms need to  be returned to your counselor by March 11.

2020 Illinois Elks Association College Scholarships College scholarships for physical and occupational therapy majors only. Applications are due no later than March 13.

2020 Whiteside County Sheriff’s Scholarship  Each Illinois county that participates in the ISA membership program awards at least one $500 scholarship each school year. The scholarship program is open to Illinois students attending an Illinois higher learning institution. College scholarship applications are available beginning in January each year and winners are announced in May.  Applications are due on or before March 15.

2020 Whiteside County Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship was designed to assist their members’ children in furthering their education.  Since many of their members do not have children who are high school or college aged, they have expanded this scholarship to include any student who is a resident of Whiteside County that is pursuing a degree that is agriculturally related.  Any student who is a child or grandchild of a member can apply, no mater what their field of study is. Please add Applications must be received by March 15

2020 Tri-County Opportunities Council This scholarship is available to students from low-income families.  All applicants are required to meet with a member of the Agency staff to review the application and have the income documentation verified.  All applications along with required documentation must be postmarked by March 20.

2020 The Dean Ritter Trust For the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Scholarship is available to students who have a significant hearing loss in one or both ears. Students must be a resident in the state of Illinois and a graduating senior.  Applications are due on or before March 23. 

2020 DCFS Scholarship - Eligibility Requirements for the Department scholarship applicants must: 1) Be at least 16 years of age and under 21 years of age on the scholarship application deadline date of March 31, 2020. 2) Have earned a high school diploma from an accredited institution, or a General Education Development (GED) certificate/diploma or met the state criteria for high school graduation before the start of the school year for which they are applying for the scholarship. 3) The Department must have court-ordered legal responsibility for the applicant, the applicant must have aged out of the Department’s care at age 18 or older, the Department must have had legal responsibility for the applicant prior to the adoption being finalized, or the applicant must be in the Subsidized Guardianship Program.

2020 VFW Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest - Open to all students, including home-schooled students, in grades 9-12, no older than 18 years of age at time of local entry and a U.S. citizen or U.S. National. Deadlines: Entries received by local Auxiliary – March 31, 2020.

2020 CGH Summer Scholars Program.  The program is intended for highly motivated students who have a good academic record and a sincere interest in becoming a physician. Graduating high school seniors may apply. Students accepted into the program will work 4-5 hours per day Monday through Friday for a period of six weeks. During that time, they will rotate through areas of medicine and surgery, receive lectures on health care career paths, and complete one project under the guidance of a mentor. Each CGH Summer Scholar will receive a $1,500 scholarship to support his/her college education. Application deadline is on or before April 3.

2021 Acorn Equality Fund Academic scholarships and organization grants for LGBT persons, organizations, and allies provide educational opportunities and help develop communities that last a lifetime.  Scholarships range from $1,000 to $4,000, with up to $30,000 awarded annually. Scholarship applications for 2021 should be submitted no later than September 18. 

2021 Sallie Mae Sweepstakes - You can win $1000 for college by simply registering for Sallie Mae's free "College Planning Tools". Sallie Mae will conduct monthly drawings to select winners of this scholarship.

2021 Horatio Alger Scholarship - As one of the nation’s largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.  Applications are due no later than October 25.

2021 Coca-Cola Scholars - The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Awards Available: 150. Applications are due October 31.

2021 Prudential Spirit of Community - The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honors middle level and high school students for making meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.  Now through November 10 students in grades 5-12 are invited to apply for Prudential Spirit of Community Awards if they have volunteered within the past year. Top honorees earn cash awards and all-expense-paid trips to Washington, D.C. Qualifying honorees also receive President’s Volunteer Service Awards.

2021 Equitable Excellence Scholarship offers college scholarships of $2,500, $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. The 2021 program will be accepting applications from September 1 until 10,000 applications are submitted or December 15, whichever comes first. Your application MUST be one of the first 10,000 completed and submitted electronically by the deadline date. Apply early!

2021 Free Speech Essay Contest is open to juniors and seniors in U.S. high schools. Students must submit an essay between 700 and 900 words on the topic that is provided on the website. FIRE must receive all entries by December 31. Winners will be announced by January 31, 2020. One $10,000 first prize, one $5,000 second prize, three $1,000 third place prizes and four $500 prizes will be awarded.

2021 Timberline Billing Service Scholarship is available to graduating seniors who either have an active IEP or had an IEP anytime during their High School years. Applications should be postmarked prior to January 15.

2021 Profile in Courage Essay Contest - This contest is open to any 9-12 student.  For complete guidelines, visit the website listed on the attachment.  Essays are due no later than January 15.

2020 SAT Practice Scholarship - Practice for the SAT and earn a scholarship. A little practice goes a long way. With Official SAT Practice, focus on exactly what you need to work on most as you prepare for the SAT. Students in the class of 2020 who use free Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy® can earn a chance at a $1,000 scholarship. The College Board will award 150 Practice scholarships every month from January through October 2019. To Qualify a student must practice for six hours on Khan Academy® to qualify and earn one entry in the monthly drawing. Earn one entry for each additional hour you practice, up to a total of 20 hours.

2020 ACT Scholarship Giveaway – Dream Big! Win Big! ACT will be giving away a $15,000 scholarship plus a $5000 technology package to 14 lucky students. Eligible sophomores, juniors and seniors who register for the ACT test between 9/3/2019 and 6/26/2020 are automatically entered for a chance to win. It’s that easy!

2020 We the students Essay Contest is sponsored by the Bill of Right Institute. Fourteen winners will receive a total of $19,000 in scholarship awards, including a $7,500 grand prize.  If you are looking for some advice on writing a great essay, check out this website for some guidance, and read last year’s winning essay to get an idea of what makes an outstanding essay. The deadline for entering the “We the Students Essay Contest” is April 15.

2020 TBK Bank Scholars Program awards 10, $1,000 scholarship for ten hardworking students who qualify as low to moderate income. Eligible students have the opportunity to complete and submit their applications beginning February 27th and ending on April 15. Applications must be submitted in their entirety to any TBK Bank branch or office before the April 30th deadline. Please coordinate with your local branch to arrange a drop-off time. Program applicants do not need to be registered account holders with TBK Bank, SSB.

2020 Horatio Alger Career & Tech Scholarship is available to students enrolling in Career & Technical Education programs.  Application opens on February 15 and the first priority deadline is April 15.

2020 PB&J Scholarship Fund is offering $500-$1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors whose test scores or GPA's might not be the best, but have the drive to succeed. Applications are due May 31, 2020.

2020 Wendy's HS Heisman - Applying for the Wendy’s High School Heisman is your chance to earn a scholarship toward college, as well as local, state, and national recognition for all that you’ve put into your high school career. If you’ve maintained at least a B average, participate in at least one eligible sport, are a leader in your community and role model at your school, then you’ve got what it takes to be a Wendy’s High School Heisman. Application dead line is October 2.

2020 Burger King Scholarship is open to High School Seniors who are US citizens, have 2.5 GPA or higher, work experience and community involvement.  Winners can receive between $1000-$50,000. Applications are due December 15, 2019.

2020 World Class Scholarship Program - Mediacom Communications is offering 55 - $1000, non-renewable scholarships. It is not required that the applicants be a Mediacom customer. All completed scholarship applications must include an essay on leadership, a high school transcript, and two recommendation forms. Applications are due February 15.

2020 Christian Leadership Award is a $1,500 towards the cost of tuition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Indiana University and Purdue University. Applicants should be male, confirmed members of a Lutheran congregation and starting college in the Fall of 2020. Applications are due no later than February 15, 2020.

2020 Martin Luther Scholarship is a $2000 award open to young men who will be attending their first year at any accredited 4-year college or university. Applicants should be male, confirmed members of a Lutheran congregation and starting college in the Fall of 2020. Applications are due no later than February 15, 2020.

2020 National Co-op Scholarship Program is the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States, WACE will award up to 160 merit co-op scholarships for a total value of $4,200,000. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of the following Partner Institutions; Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York Oswego, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology. Students must have applied to one or more of these institutes for scholarship consideration. Application deadline is February 15, 2020

2020 We the Students Scholarship. - This year we are asking you to dig deep and make your scholarship essay personal. A citizen comes in many shapes and sizes. Some serve their community by voting and participating in political events. Others serve through entrepreneurship or philanthropy. We want to know what you think makes a good citizen in your community. We encourage you to bring emotion, creativity, specific examples (including current events), and well-researched facts into what you write. A good essay will demonstrate how citizenship is not an abstract idea, but is, in fact, action inspired by constitutional principles. 2020 Hy-Vee Scholarship - Scholarships are available to high school seniors and for currently enrolled college students who are Hy-Vee employees or whose parent is a Hy-Vee employee.  Application is due no later than February 28. 

2020 Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is offering scholarships for High School Seniors and present college students who will be attending an accredited college or Nursing school.  All applications must be returned by March 1, 2020.

2020 Compeer Financial is offering $1500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have been accepted or will enroll at a 4-year university/college or community/technical college.  Applicants must have a designated agriculture major or interest in an agriculture related field, or have an agricultural or rural background. Applications need to be completed by March 16, 2020 and should be downloaded online and typed.
